The Archdiocese of Erbil is well known for its many establishments regarding education, media, health and humanitarian aid. Moreover, a great aspect of the Archdiocese projects is to assist those in need. Since 2014, the Archdiocese has initiated many projects with the help of generous donors to provide essential needs for minorities, Internally displaced people and the marginalized.
The Archdiocese also works to provide pastoral care, to catechise and to build up the Christian community in the region.

The Archdiocese of Erbil is a diocese of the Chaldean Catholic Church led by His Excellency, Archbishop Bashar Warda, CSsR. The see of the archbishop is the Cathedral of St. Joseph (Mar Yousif) in Ankawa, a suburb of Erbil. The language of the Church and community is Modern Aramaic, descended from the language of Jesus.
