Archbishop Bashar Warda from London: “What is happening to Christians in Iraq is a genocide”.
During the 7 days tour in London, the Chaldean Archbishop of Erbil, Archbishop Bashar Warda, participated and attended serval conferences and conducted multiple meetings with the governmental authorities in the country.
Archbishop Warda attended Westminster Ministerial of Freedom of Religion or Belief, with many other productive meetings with government & aid agencies, benefactors & other agencies who have been supporting the Christian communities in Iraq.
Archbishop Warda attended the international conference, which was held under the slogan “Freedom of Religion or Belief” for the first time in London, to discuss the file related to the protection of freedom of religion and belief and ways to enhance it.
During his participation in the conference, Archbishop Bashar Warda addressed the current situation and the challenges faced by Christians, particularly in Iraq.
“What happened all over the world was based on religious persecution, and some people tend to say, “It is more political.” It is not political when 70 churches are destroyed, and a large number of innocent people are kidnapped and killed. It is indeed an act of genocide and persecution against believers.” Said Archbishop Warda in his speech during the dialogue session of the conference.
