The Archdiocese of Erbil Organizes a Christmas Carols Eve and Festival
“but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart” (Ephesians 5:18-19)
Big numbers of the faithful laity filled the Cathedral of St Joseph on Friday, December 9th, to attend the first Christmas Carols concert for the new liturgical year 2022 Advent season.
The Christmas Carols service was organized and prepared under the initiative of the Archdiocese’s children choirs from the parishes of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St Joseph, St George and Sts. Peter and Paul.
The Carols were instructed and led by the choirs leaders and were chanted with joy and chairty by the little children, who, by standing infront of the altar expressed their joyful service in this holy and blessed season.
After listening to the Christmas hymns, people headed to the gardens of the Cathedral for the opening of the Nativity Scene, which was led by His Grace Archbishop Bashar Warda, the clergy and religious.
Following the opening of the Nativity Scene, the Archdiocese’s youth groups and specifically St Joseph’s young adults fellowship of the “Apostolic work” organized a Christmas market which included serving food and snacks. In addition to the Christmas market, Al Rahma foundation also organized a charity market with a variety of items such as clothes, accessories and decorations, which will be sold and donated for charity work.
The Cathedral’s Chriatmas festival will last for three days, during which the Archdiocese seeks to fill the hearts of the faithful with joy and charity, seeking to serve others as the Christian command asks of each one of us.
