The Apostolic Work Fellowship’s Spiritual Retreat in Alqosh.

But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)

Under this title, the Apostolic Work Fellowship took on 3 days (March 9th to March 11th) of spiritual retreat at the Monastery of The Redemptor in Alqosh, led by Fr Savio Handula, parish priest of St Joseph’s Cathedral as the Fellowship’s spiritual director for this year.

Throughout the retreat, spiritual and educational activities were organized, taking on the main verse for meditation from Joshua 24:15. Furthermore, Fr. Savio prepared and conducted lectures regarding family life: challenges and awareness.

Following the lectures, the Fellowship memebers were divided into groups to discuss the most prominent issues facing Christian families today, and their solutions according to Church teachings.

During these days, there was a special focus on community life, sharing entertaining and cultures activities together, such as debating about interesting and controversial topics that interest the youth. Additionally, the retreat days included morning and evening prayer times, as well as the Stations of the Cross which was done through a procession ascending towards the Monastery of Raban Hormizd. These days were concluded with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy.

This retreat combined moments of meditation and reflection, encouraging the spiritual growth of our youth; as well entertaining and fun times, which produced a fruitful and worthwhile experience.
