- Radio Mariam Erbil, a member of Radio Maria world family, was established in Erbil in 2018. Radio Maryam- Erbil is a Catholic radio in Iraq and Kurdistan region run by Mr. Stivan Shany alongside the programs’ directors, Father Samir Sliwa, and Father Savio Handoola, with a group of the most prominent journalists of Iraqi Christian community and many volunteers. The Radio’s aims are to help the faithful persevere in prayer by broadcasting the Divine Liturgy (the Mass) and rosary prayers daily along with the presentation of Christian education programs by a number of priest, nuns and lay people, as a way to offer catechism to the laity. Radio Mariam- Erbil is available at the frequency of 104.9 FM, as for Dohuk and the Nineveh Plains it is at 107.5 FM, as well its availability on mobile applications and social media platforms. One of the most prominent moments of the radio was in the time of COVID-19 pandemic, when believers were deterred from physically returning to church because of the prolonged pandemic, Radio Mariam Erbil overcame these circumstances by conveying prayers, Holy Mass, Rosary Prayers and programs through broadcasting 24/7. Believers of different ages are received daily at Radio Mariam Erbil Studio sharing their prayers, and their personal life and faith journey through live radio broadcast.
