The Graduation Ceremony of CUE’s Class of 2023
The Catholic University in Erbil celebrated the Commencement Ceremony for the Graduating Class of 2023 on October 24th, 2023. His Excellency, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, attended the event. Additionally, reverent archbishops, ministers, government officials, consuls, clergymen, religious sisters and brothers, as well students, families and guests were present at the ceremony.
The celebration started with a procession of the graduates, academics, and the Board of Trustees.
Following, His Grace, the CUE Chancellor and Chairman of Board of Trustees, Archbishop Bashar Warda, presented his speech. His Grace welcomed the attendants and congratulated the graduates, highlighting that “Together, we have a responsibility towards our world, a world yearning for peace, and education is what makes peace possible. This is our mission at CUE.”
Furthermore, His Excellency, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, delivered his speech, where he expressed his trust in the Catholic University, in bringing together students from diverse religious backgrounds to live together peacefully. He also encouraged CUE to always move forward, affirming his continuous support for the institution.
Additionally, CUE President and Vice Chancellor, Dr. Nazar Shabila, congratulated the graduates and led the certification ceremony.
The Catholic University in Erbil consists of 11 academic departments, and has 420 students. Since its foundation, the Catholic University in Erbil highlighted the importance of religious and cultural diversity and peaceful coexistence. Additionally, the vision of CUE is to empower students to contribute to the advancement of local and global communities. The University strives to make an environment that respects and values human dignity, forming future leaders who promote peace and justice.
