The University of Walsh Awards Archbishop Warda an Honorary Doctorate in Theology

As an act of appraisal for his efforts in the field of Education and Pedagogy and for founding many schools with different educational programs and a university with 12 academic departments, His Grace Archbishop Bashar Warda was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Theology by the Board of Trustees of the Walsh University (Ohio, the US) during the graduation commencement of the University’s students on May 6th, 2023.

During the commencement, H.G. delivered the commencement talk, congratulating the students for their graduation and emphasizing the need of the world for young leaders who have perseverance in work, generosity in giving, the desire to work with others in the face of difficulties, and investing in their talents to serve humanity.

Among the attendants were the University’s academic staff, graduating students, and their families, as well as the CUE President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Nazar Shabila.

After the commencement, H.G. Archbishop Warda celebrated the Divine Liturgy with the graduates, academic and administrative staff.

It is worth noting that the Catholic University in Erbil (CUE) and Walsh University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) a few months ago to improve the university’s academic programs according to international standards and provide scholarships to talented and capable students.
