The U.S. law provides relief to genocide victims of Islamic State in Iraq
The senior Chaldean Cathiloc leader in Erbil, Archbishop Bashar Warda has participated in the ceremony of signing the law Iraq and Syria Genocide Relief and Accountability Act of 2018, which will provide humanitarian relief to genocide victims in Iraq and Syria and hold accountable Islamic State perpetrators of genocide, by the former the U.S. president Donald Trump.
The legislation signed aimed to provide humanitarian relief to genocide victims in Iraq and Syria and hold accountable Islamic State perpetrators of genocide. In addition, the aid was planned to assist thousands of vulnerable families from the minorities and faith-based groups in finding stabilization and recovery from the genocide.
“We need more than words, it’s time for action,” the Chaldean archbishop of Erbil, Bashar Warda, said during participating the ceremony in Washington, D.C.
Following the former U.S. president Trump’s promises during the 2016 campaign to help Christians persecuted in the Middle East, the local Catholic Church in Iraq received thousands of dollars to continue supporting the affected families and members to find sustainability in the country.
