Practicing for the Palm Sunday at the catechism
From March 8 to 22, 2024, around 1,000 catechism students gathered at St. Peter and Paul Church in Erbil, Iraq, to prepare for the annual Palm Sunday procession organized by the archdiocese. This large-scale event takes place each year in Ankawa, drawing families and parishioners together in a joyful expression of faith.
During their preparation, students participated in lessons and discussions to understand the meaning behind Palm Sunday and its rich traditions. Guided by their catechists, they practiced hymns and reflected on the story of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. The experience helped bring the Gospel to life and gave students a deeper appreciation of the liturgical celebration they were about to take part in.
