Palm Sunday Procession in Ankawa
With the waving of the palms and olive branches, the catechism committee’s students celebrated the Palm Sunday procession, on Saturday, April 1st.
The procession was led the Glorious Crucifix, along with the most reverend, Archbishop Bashar Warda, of the Archdiocese of Erbil, Archbishop Nathanael Nizar Ajam, Archbishop of Adiabene for the Syriac Catholic Church, Archbishop Nicodemus Dawood Matti Sharaf, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Mosul and Kurdistan region for the Syriac Orthodox Church, as well as the revered clergy of the Archdiocese of Erbil, the religious sisters and the lay faithful.
The procession started in Mart Shimoni Church in Ankawa, and ended in Mar Elia Church as people shouted, “Hosanna in the highest, blessed is he who comes in the name of Lord.”
At Mar Elia, the little children offered a prayer for this day, as well as hymns. Following the prayer, the attendants joined the small charity bazaar which was organized by the Apostolic Work fellowship of the Chaldean Archdiocese of Erbil.
