“Opera in Salotto” Christmas Concert

The Chaldean Archdiocese of Erbil in collaboration with the Italian Consulate in Erbil organized an “Opera in Salotto” presented by the Italian Ensemble; along with liturgical Advent hymns chanted by the Choir of the Sisters and a musical performance by Salahaddin University String Orchestra, on December 11th, 2023. The perofrmance was delieverd at St. Joseph’s Chaldean Catholic Cathedral in Ankawa. The performance of the Clarinet was conducted by Maria Teresa Strappati, and was accompanied by the Pianets and Tenor. Moreover, the Choir of the Sisters brought together Chaldean Sisters from the congregations at the Archdiocese.

H.G. Archbishop Bashar Warda, along with other reverent Archbishops and priests attended the ceremony. Furthermore, Italian Consul General to Erbil, H.E. Michele Camerota, also attended the event. Additionally, government officials were also present at the concert. Mr. Camerota stated “This is a small event, maybe. But for us it is also very meaningful to be here before Christmas for a concert…”. A big number of the faithful laity attended the concert, along with groups from other religious beliefs; thus the event brought together people from different backgrounds.
