Al Rahma foundation provides clothing for the poor this winter
And he answered them, “He who has two coats, let him share with him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.” (Luke 3:11)
At the initiative of the archdiocese of Erbil, and as part of the preparations for this advent season and Christmas, Al Rahma foundation has collected and distributed winter clothing for the poor families in Ankawa. Al Rahma foundation started the distribution of winter clothes to the poor on November 25, as more than half a tonne of clothes were collected from donations, for all age groups.
This project started a few months ago by Al Rahma foundation, by launching a campaign to collect clothes from the donations of the archdiocese’s parishioners. After collecting the donations, two fraternities, namely, Apostolic work group and Al Safaa helped arrange, separate, and pack the clothing. More than a tonne of winter and summer clothes were donated. The summer clothes were packed aside to be given to the poor later during the warmer seasons.
On November 25, 2022, the youth group of Sts. Peter and Paul parish volunteered to distribute the clothes to the poor at the parish’s hall, which lasted for two consecutive days. The archdiocese thanks the efforts of all people who have helped throughout the project such as Iraq Modern Laundry & Ironing shop, and all other contributors.
