Chaldean Archdiocese of Erbil Opens Holy Door at St. Joseph’s Cathedral to Mark the Jubilee Year of Hope

On Sunday, December 29, the Chaldean Archdiocese of Erbil marked the beginning of the Jubilee Year of Hope with a special ceremony at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Ankawa. His Grace Archbishop Bashar Matti Warda, along with Father Savio Handula and deacons of the cathedral, opened the Jubilee Holy Door, a portal of grace to mark the start of this holy year.

The event began with the reading of excerpts from the papal bull “Hope Does Not Disappoint,” followed by prayers and Psalms led by His Grace. After the prayers, His Grace officially opened the door, symbolizing the commencement of the Jubilee Year activities.

The Chaldean Archdiocese of Erbil will soon announce a series of events and pastoral events planned for the Jubilee Year aimed at deepening faith and community engagement throughout the Archdiocese. This special year invites all the faithful to reflect on the themes of hope, renewal, and service, in line with the Church’s ongoing call to live out the message of the Gospel.
