Celebration on the Occasion of World Day for Consecrated Life in Ankawa.
On February 2, 2023, the Council of Catholic Congregations in Iraq celebrated the World Day of Consecrated Life by gathering for a collective prayer, for which all monastic congregations in Ankawa participated.
During the prayer, different vocations of consecrated life were presented.
Fr. Rony Bakos shared his life experience regarding his religious vocation as a monk, while Sr. Najiba of the Little Sisters of Jesus presented on her time as a consecrated nun, and Ms. Sarab Kamel presented her experience of her vocation as a consecrated lay woman, from the daughters of the virgins.
His Grace Archbishop Bashar Warda was present at the celebration, along with Abbot Samer Sorisho, the General Superior of the Antonian Hormizd Order and the Superior of the Council of Catholic Congregations in Iraq, Sr. Samar Kamel, Mother Superior of the Order of the Chaldean Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Deputy of the Council of Catholic Congregations (Iraq), as well as the respected clergy and members of the Catholic Congregations and the lay faithful.
The prayers of those present centered around the intention of the evening; asking the Lord for an increase in vocations reflecting on the words “the harvest is abundant but the laborers are few.”
