A Christmas Evening Overflowing with Children’s Joy – Chaldean Diocese of Erbil

The Chaldean Diocese of Erbil inaugurated its Christmas celebrations with a distinctive evening of hymns presented by children’s choirs from the parishes and schools of the diocese. Eight choirs gathered to form a spiritual tableau filled with the innocence of young voices and the depth of hope.

The event was attended by the Bishop of the Diocese, His Excellency Mar Bashar Matti Warda, along with priests, sisters, and a large congregation that filled the church.

The evening began with a presentation by the children of the Apostles Peter and Paul Kindergarten and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Kindergarten, who reenacted the Nativity scene. The children’s voices then rose in joyful hymns glorifying the Divine Child who illuminated the world’s night with His hope. The program also included spiritual reflections delivered in Arabic, Syriac (Sourith), and English, uniting the attendees in a prayer that expressed the richness of culture and the unity of faith.

Before the conclusion, the audience had the opportunity to meet the participating choirs whose performances enriched the evening. The choirs included:

  • Our Lady of Perpetual Help Kindergarten and Apostles Kindergarten
  • Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Choir
  • St. Joseph Church Choir
  • Al-Bishara School Choir
  • Mar Giwargis Church Choir
  • Maryamana School Choir
  • The Apostles Church Choir
  • Mar Qardakh School Choir

The diocese expressed its gratitude and appreciation to the choir trainers and supervisors, as well as the participating children, who showed evident dedication and effort throughout many weeks of preparation—an offering of joy that filled the church with their Christmas chants.

The evening concluded with a blessing from His Excellency Mar Bashar Matti Warda to all attendees, praying that the Birth of the Lord Jesus may bring the light of peace and hope to every family.
