Summer Activity to Teach Children Prayer in Koisanjak and Armota

As part of its pastoral and educational mission to nurture children in the spirit of prayer and liturgical life, the Catechism Committee organized a summer activity for elementary students in the parishes of St. Joseph (Koisanjak) and Our Lady Mary (Armota), under the theme: “Teach Us to Pray.”

The event welcomed 40 students and was led by 8 dedicated volunteer teachers. It featured a variety of engaging stations designed to deliver enriching spiritual and educational content in a fun and interactive way.

The day began with teaching the children a selection of basic liturgical prayers, reflecting the richness of the Church’s liturgical tradition. This was followed by a simplified explanation of the Lord’s Prayer, inspired by the Gospel account in Luke 11:1, where the disciples ask Jesus: “Lord, teach us to pray.”

The children then watched a short film illustrating Jesus teaching his disciples how to pray, which led to a time of discussion, questions, and answers to help them grasp the deeper meaning of the prayer and how to live it daily.

To add joy and fellowship to the experience, the day also included recreational activities such as drawing and water games, creating a vibrant and communal atmosphere.

Special thanks to Fr. Samir Saliwa, spiritual director of the Catechism Committee in the Eparchy, and to all those who contributed to the success of this meaningful encounter.
