A Year of Liberation: Removing Bad Habits An Educational Meeting for Catechism Students on the Jubilee Year

As part of its ongoing activities for the Jubilee Year, the Central Committee for Catechism of the Archdiocese organized a spiritual and educational gathering for middle school students from the parishes of Ankawa. The event, titled “Jubilee Year: A Year of Liberation,” was held on March 14 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church. It was also attended by students from St. Joseph, St. George, and Mother of Perpetual Help parishes.

Sr. Nazek Khaled, O.P. a presented the key topics of the meeting, emphasizing that the Jubilee Year invites us to recognize that liberation from anything hindering our growth is possible. She pointed out that we can free ourselves from habits and behaviors that prevent us from growing as children of God. Some of these behaviors include excessive use of electronic devices, smoking, cheating in exams, and bullying others. “We are not slaves to any form of life,” she said. “We can change if we decide to do so. With God, everything is possible. Through repentance, we are renewed, and hope revives our lives.”

Following the educational session, the students were divided into groups for discussion and reflection under the guidance of their mentors. The meeting concluded with recreational activities that fostered a sense of community and brotherhood among the participants.
