Catechism Committee Launches Training for Catechists

The Chaldean Archdiocese of Erbil launched the 15th annual Catechism course for the training of catechists. These trainings are held each year as part of the Archdiocese’s commitment to the spiritual and theological formation programs.

The trainings were held for three days at the Catholic University in Erbil’s campus. These sessions aimed to equip trainees with the necessary tools as they help with the formation of future generations.

The program was supervised by Sr. Warda Maksour, from the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Sr. Warda , along with a specialized team from Lebanon, focused on preparing active catechism sessions and methods that are suitable for young students’ needs. The program is based upon God’s word and the rich Church Tradition, and emphasizes creative and dynamic ways to announce the message of the Gospels.

The Chaldean Archdiocese of Erbil considers the Catechism lessons and activities a cornerstone for the pastoral work done within the archdiocese. Hence, Archbishop Bashar Warda continues to personally follow up with the catechism committee; moreover the catechism programs are funded by ACN regularly, who seeks to emphasize pastoral and evangelical programs, and more.
